Both, Gunnar Fuss (120) and Dustin Stone (145) qualified for the 2016 PIAA AAA State Championships by finishing in the top four in their respective weight classes on Saturday (3/5) at the South East Regional Championships hosted by Souderton.  Truman finished in 19th overall, with 44 teams being represented at the SE Regional tournament.  

lost his first round bout to returning state qualifier Matt Marino of Garnet Valley 10-4, but rallied back to win 4 straight matches en route of his 3rd place finish and bid to the State Championship tournament.  in the first round of wrestle-backs, Gunnar beat Tommy Luke (West Chester East) 9-2 and followed with a 13-0 win ver returning regional 6th place finisher Vince Tavani (Haverford).  In the consolation semi-final, Gunnar edged Oxford's Bandon Sheffield, another standout freshman 2-0 to lock in a spot on the podium and a trip to Hershey.  In the consolation final, Gunnar topped Boyertown's David Campbell (returning regional 6th place finisher) 4-0.  Fuss became the first wrestler in Truman's history to qualify for the State Championships as a Freshman!

Stone also lost a tough first-round bout to returning state qualifier Bryce Reddington (Methacton) 3-2 -- Reddington continued on to capture the 145lb title.  In Stone's first round wrestle-back, he pinned Coatesville's Colin McBride in 4:11, and followed with a 3-1 win over Boyertown's Chris Berry.  In the consolation semi-final, Stone topped Interboro's Eric Thomas (returning state qualifier) 6-1 to earn his spot on the podium and his second consecutive trip to the PIAA State Championships!
