POSTSEASON:

The Tigers’ season came to an end this weekend at the 2016 PIAA State Championships at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa.  Freshman Gunnar Fuss (120) and Senior Dustin Stone (145) did not earn a top-eight place on the podium, however, they were able to have their hands raised at the Giant Center.  Gunnar opened up the tournament with a first round loss to Caleb Morris of Waynesburg Central by a score of 4-2, but he rallied back with a 6-5 decision over Jersey Shore’s Hunter Zondory in the first round of consolations to earn his spot to wrestle in Day 2 of the tournament.  In Gunnar’s final bout of the tournament, he lost a 6-3 decision to Noah Levett of Kiski Area – Levett was the eventual 6th place finisher at 120lbs

Dustin Stone opened his tournament with an impressive 9-0 major decision over Cumberland Valley’s Cal Reichert to advance to the quarter finals.  In Stone’s quarterfinal match, he lost Nazareth’s Brock Wilson by a score of 6-0 – Wilson was the eventual State Runner-Up at 145lbs.  In the consolations, Stone lost a 4-2 decision to Central York’s Dylan Chatterton – Chatterton finished 3rd at 145lbs.
