Rutgers University Director of Olympic Sport Operations, Jeff Jacobs visits Truman to Share Some Secrets to Success

(Saturday, October 29, 2016)

The HST Wrestling team welcomed Jeff Jacobs on Saturday, as he ran a successful clinic and shared what it takes to be successful, both on and off the mat.

Jeff Jacobs is a former teammate of mine at East Stroudsburg University.  Jeff is a Point Boro (NJ) native, who has seen high levels of success not only as a competitor, but as a coach and professional at the high school, collegiate, and international levels. Here is short glimpse of some of Jeff's accomplishments:

-NJ High School State Place winner & All-American

     -2011 NCAA National Qualifier

-Former Head Assistant Coach at Stevens Institute of Technology and Delaware Valley University

-2016 UWW World Beach Wrestling Championships - Bronze Medalist

-Director of Olympic Sport Operations - Rutgers University

Jacobs came to Truman on Saturday to not only share some highly effective technique, but the importance of hard work, the life lessons he has learned through the sport of wrestling, and the opportunities he has been awarded with as a result of working hard and staying focused.  The audience/participants on Saturday included wrestlers from the Bucks/Montgomery/Delaware/Philadelphia Region, as well as New Jersey.

Jeff explained that he was no different than anyone in the audience, as far as ability, but through hard work, and truly becoming a 'student of the sport', he was able to use wrestling as his vehicle to not only a successful career as a competitor, but as a coach and working professional. As a professional, Jeff helps with the NCAA recruiting process for potential student athletes, and he put much emphasis on the importance on the STUDENT part of that title.  I often tell my wrestlers to become students of the sport and learn from those who have already reached the highest levels of success; we were fortunate enough to have one of those individuals [Jacobs] come visit us Saturday -- anyone who attended, you are on the right track to a successful career!  Big thanks to Jeff for taking the time to speak/work with these young wrestlers, the HST Coaching staff/booster club, and all participants!  Keep training hard.  Keep learning. Let wrestling be your vehicle to success!

As always, thank you for your continued support!

-Coach Dunn
