On Saturday (11-12-16) Dylan Nuttall, and Jesse Huber traveled with the York College Spartans to Bristol, RI to compete in the Roger Williams Invitational. Nuttall (125lbs) started his day with a pair of wins, including a Fall and a Major Decision. In the third round, Nuttall took a close loss in overtime to Nick Barbaria (RWU). Dylan bounced back with another pair of wins, including an 8-4 Decision and another Pin, before a 9-8 setback pushed him into the fifth-place consolation match. He captured fifth-place via medical forfeit. Nuttall is now 9-3 with three pins and a pair of major decisions.
Huber (184lbs), in his opening weekend of competition, went 2-2 at the RWU Invitational. In his first bout of the day, Jesse dropped a close 8-5 decision to the 174lbs returning NCAA DIII National Champion. In his first consolation bout, Huber rallied with a Technical Fall, but suffered a cut under his eye en route of doing so. After getting a few stitches in his face, Huber went on to pin his next opponent, before losing a close one in his final bout of the tournament. (Way to be a Warrior!!)
The #10 ranked York Spartans finished 3rd overall. Up next, the Spartans will travel to Elizabethtown Wednesday evening for a dual meet.
Great Job guys...keep the momentum rolling!!
As always, thank you for the continued support!!
